Patton Leadership Institute builds cohorts of emerging leaders from throughout the region. Participants in the program attend a two-day opening retreat and eight day-long sessions. The curriculum weaves together topics crucial to the development of community such as education, economic development, health care, energy, tourism, and government. National Civics Bee Southeast Kentucky Chamber

The National Civics Bee is an annual competition sponsored by the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation that encourages young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. The Southeast Kentucky Chamber hosts the Eastern Kentucky Regional Competition each spring. The region includes Bath, Boyd, Breathitt, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Floyd, Greenup, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Letcher, Lewis, Magoffin, Martin, Mason, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Perry, Pike, Powell, Rowan, and Wolfe counties. The Excellence in Education Grant Program provides funding assistance to supplement areas within the school systems where there are insufficient funds to meet student needs and where the purpose enlightens students academically, e.g. additional equipment for science, art, music, and drama departments.
